Andra's Big Girl Bed!

I now have even more evidence our baby girl is growing up. Over the weekend, we moved Andra from her crib to her "big girl bed." We decided to just skip the toddler bed...I figure the fewer the transitions, the easier it'll be on everyone. Plus, with her long frame and demands to sleep with about 16 stuffed animals, she was simply running out of room. So after a few sniffles from me (and Dave said he was really sad too), we started dismantling the crib Andra's slept in for the last 2 and a half years. This was taken after her last nap in her crib...

I was actually pretty nervous about switching her. I've heard lots of horror stories about toddlers taking advantage of their newfound freedom once they realize they can get in and out of bed on their own free will. Well, we got some serious safety bars that just about prevent that unless she's REALLY determined...and so far, so good! She hasn't attempted to get out once, and has adjusted beautifully. She loves playing on it all day too...so far, she's pretended it's a bus (and she's the bus driver and we "drive" it downtown) and a "pirate piggie ship" (that's a Dora reference). She's a happy camper, so even though my heart aches just a little to see that crib gone...I know I'm blessed to have a healthy, growing girl who's always ready to advance to that next milestone (and I'm also thanking my lucky stars that she hasn't yet realized she can get out of bed whenever she wants!) Sweet Dreams...

I figured she would do great! I bet it was crazy for you to 'tuck her in' the first night instead of put her in the crib. Now you can cuddle with her and read her bedtime stories when she's actually in bed!

Andra looks so grown up in her new big girl bed and I LOVE the new big girl bedding too!!! Cant believe she is almost 3, I really feel like you were just prego with her and walking to the bathroom 10 times a day at work.

Ha ha! Thanks for the reminder, Megan! I remember passing Kevin in the hallway one day and he said "Again?!?!" and I wanted to smack him! Actually, I wanted to smack him most days. :)
